Listening for Life on the Day that God is Dead

I know this title could be contentious but I find “Black Saturday” to be a very important moment in the church calendar. At this gathering we will shortly examine the phrase “God is Dead,” and then move into a guided practice that has been called Lectio Tierra. Augustine referred to creation as “God’s other book.” Lectio Tierra is very much like Lectio Divina (significant meditation on a biblical passage) but in creation. I think this practice will be especially meaningful given the time on the church calendar and the particular season we are in. If nothing else, it will be a good chance to disconnect from media and pause in creation as the woods comes to life and on perhaps the most appropriate day of the church year.

Since this is the first in person event that Postmodern Liturgy will host, it would be really helpful to me if you would RSVP to the event on our facebook site. To pressure you to do that, I will give specific instructions about where we will meet to those that respond on Facebook. I hope to see many of you there!
